Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid MSDE professional educator license/endorsement in ESOL (preferred) or eligible for conditional license in ESOL
- Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities
- Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs) preferred
- Strong knowledge of instructional planning, methods, and evaluation procedures
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and human relations skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching, currently working full time in education

Position Description
The ESOL Teacher will plan and implement an English Language Development program for students in Grade 9 through Grade 12. This includes developing, modifying, and individualizing instructional strategies, activities, and materials to meet language proficiency standards and the unique needs of English Language Learners. The teacher will assess and evaluate student achievement, manage student behavior, and ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment. Working independently or as part of a collaborative team, the ESOL teacher will support ELLs both in standalone and integrated instructional settings. Responsibilities may include coordinating with other professional staff, communicating student progress to parents, and participating in staff development programs to enhance instructional practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver ESOL instruction aligned with City Schools’ curriculum and language proficiency standards
- Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and modify instructional activities as needed
- Utilize multimedia, computer technology, and differentiated materials to enhance student learning
- Manage student behavior and create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment
- Collaborate with other teachers, counselors, and resource personnel to maximize student success
- Communicate regularly with families to report progress and engage parental support
- Maintain accurate assessment documentation and student performance records
- Support school-wide events, activities, and approved extracurricular programs
